Fever pitch


The world seems to have gone bananas with Royal wedding mania… and I’m loving it. Please can we keep the bunting up all summer?


Equally bananas was this private garden I saw in Clapham last night, owned by a garden designer. Riveted, I couldn’t resist a peek - courtesy of the National Gardens Scheme. It is always intriguing to see what designers do with their own patch – if anything at all – and last night’s was, well, baffling. The gold window frames gave a clue to the garden’s resistance to convention; beyond the house, all manner of madness was thriving. Apart from one thin path and a very crazy greenhouse, the entire garden was cultivated with tulips…
